Prenuptial and Postnuptial agreements

Premarital Agreements: Obtaining a premarital agreement (also known as a “prenuptial agreement” or “prenup”) can put you and your prospective spouse at ease by providing a degree of certainty in case things go wrong down the road. A premarital agreement can be a useful tool for protecting assets and limiting liability for spousal support in the event of a separation, or for controlling the distribution of assets upon death.

Postnuptial Agreements: A postnuptial agreement is similar to a premarital agreement, but it is entered into by spouses after their marriage, rather than before. A postnuptial agreement can serve couples by clarifying the issues that lead to conflict in their marriage, which sometimes can help keep the relationship together or, if necessary, can simplify and shorten divorce proceedings.
